Did 55.2-59 Chevy small trucks ever use a power steering system like this? I know that GMC used a more conventional system where the work was all done in the steering box.
'57 GMC 102, Original 347 V8, HydraMatic, 3.08 rear gear, added A/C, disk front brakes, HEI, AFB carb, '98 Honda Black Currant paint. T-boned and totaled 10/12 '52 GMC 152 Stake Bed, Original 228, SM420, added A/C, HEI, disk front brakes, '67 Chev 3.55 rear gear. Gets used as a real truck.
The shop manual shows that type of system, I don't recall seeing the other style in the book, my '78 Vette uses the power hydraulic cylinder as the assist.

Bill - According to the 1955.2 Chevrolet Truck Engineering Features booklet, that same power steering system is listed as "Optional Extra Cost Equipment" for all Chevy trucks except forward control models. I'd have to confirm through other Chevy Master Parts Books, but I think it's applicable from 1955.2 - 59. Same diagram in my referenced resource as what you posted.
