Forgive me for the poor pictures but it got dark. I removed the right side running board so I can attempt to repair the rotted out splash guard. Hopefully I can figure out a way to repair the rotted piece. Then put the running board back on. I broke a few of the bolts that hold it on. How do you put bolts back in the brace on the running board?

The running board bolts are similar to "elevator bolts", like carriage bolts but with a larger diameter flatter head. You can buy them from Jim Carter LINK. The head is held against the slot by a tab to keep them from turning. You can remove the broken one by tapping it toward the middle of the brace.

The tab may actually be rusted away, but you could hit them with some PB blaster or Kroil and then tap them toward the center. One way or another they should come out. The square under the head may be binding in the slot, so turning may help, assuming you can grab them with pliers.
