Last Saturday Carl picked me up in Waverly driving his Ford automobile and we rode to a swap meet car show in Richmond. He was looking for some items for his 52 3100 restoration. No Chevy parts anywhere. All Furd Turds. Should've taken my Yukon. Oh, well.
But we did see a nice 52 4100 resto and talked with the owner, but he didn't know much. He got it already finished. Saw a 61 Apache 31 whose owner didn't know much either, but that it had a 235. Yes, it was but I showed him that it had a 261 head on it. Rough but running, he had it for sale.
Sitting all alone near the curb was a 46 or so all original-looking Chevy pickup with no one around to talk to. Had some old rusty period tools in the back. Typical car show with plenty of Model Ts, 60s muscle cars and a dabble of off-the-wall old timers. There was a sweet looking bright yellow rear engine model in the parade of vehicles that only had a black AMX on the front and rear. Carl asked who made that... I said it was a Rambler. Carl scoffed. Then the announcer stated it was a 1 of 6 American Motors AMX experimental. See! It's a durn Rambler! It had a big mean V8 in the backseat powering a transaxle. Neat. We left before the temp hit 90.

That 52 4100 had an amazingly nice Forester green paint job on it. If all I got out of the 200 mile round trip was to see that pretty paint job and make the final decision on what color to paint my current built-to-factory-specs project, it was well worth it.
It also gave me another chance to hear Jethro spin his litany of limericks and lies. Again, well worth the trip.
We ate good too. Flounder, fried popcorn shrimp, hush puppies, very good coleslaw and a lemonade for $15.00

That 4100 sounds a lot like Bruce's truck ... I'd need to see pictures of it, of course ...

Two benefits I've learned to hanging with Carl and Jethro -- you'll have a sea story or two at the end and you'll eat well.

Indeed. Any chow left unattended for more than 10 seconds is considered abandoned.

My favourite Rambler was the SC/Rambler, built only in 1969.

That Mexican restaurant food was worthy of abandonment based on my gut's lack of diversity. I suspect that my entire alimentary may be racist.
So in essence, your 10 second food pilferage saved me a significant amount of distress that day.
Therefore, I have decided to forgive and forget and never bring this up again, unless I forget that I declared this, or am unjustly cornered in the future.

If you need Mexican food, come visit me in Texas! I might even put you up in the spare bedroom!
