Should I use the adapter plate that attaches to the top of the center windshield bar and then use the stud mount type of mirror? Or should I use the glue plate method on the glass? I also seen some mounted to the header piece above the windshield, but thought that might be too thin unless using a backer plate on the inside of the header. Chrome or painted frame? Trying to stay era appropriate, but going for safety also.
Thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Came to me mounted with a bracket to the center bar of the windshield which I don’t recommend, every time I crank the windshield the mirror is out of adjustment. No sheet metal on these trucks is thin, self tapping screws or sheet metal screws will be fine, for extra bond put a bit of adhesive caulk behind the bracket first. Chuck

That was the one I picked out if I was going with a stud mounted version on the adapter. I will go with a simpler one that mounts to the headliner. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 1,002 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 1,002 | On my '42, I mounted a 1954 Advance Design Chevy truck rear view mirror. As I recall I drilled and tapped two holes in the center of the header panel, right where there is an underlying sheet metal brace.
