My carb dried out and looked bad so was thinking of one of the aftermarket carbs from offshore. Advice was to rebuild old one, so ordered the rochester kit. Gunk and brake cleaner made it look new. Put the center section and lower base together and all was going well. Tonight was fuel pump and float assembly. Pump went well then the base for the needle valve. hand tightened and then screwdriver. went to fit the float and it was way to high. Played with it a while and then noticed the needle valve housing appeared crooked??? Took it out looked at threads ,tried the old valve and it went in cocked also. Could it have cross threaded? Would anyone know what thread the base is and maybe I can re-thread the base. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Don't want to ruin the base. Thanks Tom | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 365 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 365 | Well it appears that the original valve assembly is 1/4-28 and the new valve assembly is a metric sorta equivalent. Found a old tap and slowly chased the threads. Put the old assembly in and it tightened up nice. Will adjust and hopefully be running this evening. Happy Father's Day all. | | |
