How does the radiator/fender support attach to the crossmember? Are there 2 pieces of rubber and are there springs on the bottom of the bolts? All I see on the vendors sites is just the rubber pieces.

The radiator support mounts to the crossmember using cushions, plates, shims and a couple of bolts. No spring. The first image is from the 37 GMC parts book; the second image show the order they go on. The last image is the 57 chevy book. It shows the 53-57 Corvette used the same cushions and plates as your 36. This is the complete kit. Kit. Or just the cushions and shims. Cushion/Shims

Ok, thanks for the info. I had a couple of 3/16 thick rubber squares ( one under each bolt with a 1/4" thick shim under each) It seems to be close to the right height as I have good seams on the hood front and rear. Just wondering what the clearance should be between the lower corner of the fender to frame rail should be. Maybe the radiator needs another shim, as there is only about 3/8" clearance there now. If that's enough then, I will put the fenders on and move on to the seat rebuild.

Okay, I’v been trying to get the front sheet metal aligned. I get close and then move something and it just turns to 💩.
Hopefully I can get some pictures uploaded.

My son and I spent all afternoon on Saturday working on the 36. Ya, we got the front end all together and now can move on to the next project on the truck.
