I just bought a 39 half-ton pickup and I'm still discovering some of the issues with it. Some previous owner decided that the way to deal with a rusted emergency brake cable was to cut the end off inside the backing plate and discard the toggle lever, eccentric bolt, and extension link and spring. I already posted my need for these parts under "parts wanted" but thought that I'd mention it here as well. This truck is remarkably complete but I'm discovering that's because nothing was ever repaired on it! I'd rather deal with that than to try to undo modern "improvements" done by someone else.

Post some pictures of your truck.

Ya, I hate when people butcher up original parts because of their incompetence or laziness when it comes to doing a proper repair.

At least remove the part and store it for someone in the future to have a crack at fixing it.

I'm sure someone whose swapping rear ends will have the parts you need eventually.

Have you checked the restoration supply houses like Jim Carter, The filling Station, Classssic Chevrolet Truck, etc?

None of my regular parts companies sell these as repro parts. I found a used set from another Bolter through the parts wanted forum. Thanks everyone for your interest.
