I just paid deposit on this truck and gonna pick it up when i make a little space in my business's yard.
i have an exterior design/build company and want to use this for advertising by hauling materials so it has an excuse to be sitting on the jobsite advertising. id like to haul heavier materials like the 1968 c60 does (which i need to do the advertising on as well now that i mention it) but i dont know how smart that is.
I have a few parts f550s from 2000-2006 years 10 lug versions, one thats a manual 2wd i could body swap needs tranny rebuild... and a 1970's 454 motorhome with auto tranny and 14-bolt rearend thats been scraped down to the deck.
ive envisioned many ways this could go... that manual f550 2wd with the 6.0 always runs, though rough at times its got a wiring issue somewhere.
or the 454 motorhome drivetrain and make it a 1-ton just due to how wide that f-550 front axle is...
its a running and driving 55 right now, ill use it that way for a minute if it can haul plants and mulch, and heck ill leave it that way if it can be modded to be safe/reliable

that helped! i have a p30 1 ton front axle already, but its 8 bolt. i might need a 2 ton ad axle i want a 2-speed rear
made a deal on a 1973 c60 thats missing a bunch of body parts, accessories and has a clapped out engine. not sure what transmission, but im thinking ill mod the parts.
p-30 the i beam and narrow it. Use the 2-speed Rearend.
I don't think i mind the really wide rear, gonna put on a dump bed anyways and i kinda want to fender it like a pickup bed look dump bed. ive got a 454, im not sure what manual transmissions in the c60, and i want to lower it on those giant tires. 😁
for now ill use as is while i fix the parts unless someones got a better idea.
As the saying around here goes, it's your truck and ultimately your choice on what you do with it. Only thing that would change is your conversation would need to probably be moved to the HiPo Shop as that the best place for that.

for now its an exercise in what parts i pit up for sale, and what i keep for the trucks future. right now Im gonna run it the way it comes other then adding a flatbed.
Ill be seeing if i can get my 64 c60 drug back from the quarry i left it at back in 2020.... so plenty of big bolt stovebolts in my world
Unicorn, I would do some thinking on swapping front axles. In my opinion, the original brakes are more than adequate if they are rebuilt with new lines, hoses, etc. My '57 2 ton has the factory system and has no problem when loaded.

might be snagging a 2000 international chassis with dt466e, and an allison... problem is i will need a stronger front axle and the international is 95" i can narrow it maybe 8"
I think I need Jimmy cricket on my shoulder saying stop don't touch it. Don't do that. You'll never finish it. You'll make your life miserable. You'll ruin the truck.
Just my thoughts on your truck. If it was mine, I would listen to “Jiminy Cricket”, put a dump bed on it, drive it awhile before I made any decisions.

yeah it was tight! trucks really solid though. found a bed for it too. turned out to be poo poo. found a long bed thats better and is gonna fit better.
been wheeling and dealing like mad.... might get interesting
i have acquired a 1973 c60 roller to steal from.. or body swap onto. a dt466 with manual tranny may have just strolled into my life... which could means i could drive as is and mod a new chassis/drivetrain before a body swap. or at least put messing with the truck as it sits out of my mind for now. idk im a nutjob i think
It's a lot easier to put kingpins and new brakes on the truck's current front axle, even if converting up to Bendix Duo-Servo brakes versus Huck brakes, than it is to take the body off and put it on another chassis where it wasn't designed to go. It can be done and can look/work really great.. but if you're just hauling flowers on this thing and prefer the patina for advertising.. then I'd listen to Mr. Cricket and leave 'R be!!
