Elmo, I used 2 Pontiac Fiero tanks, 10 gallons each. They fit perfectly between the frame rails and parallel to the drive shaft. My spare tire remains where the factory intended it to be.
Apparently you can buy brand new ones. Whoda thunk it?
$450 each, though. $525 for the later years.

Ya , that's why I looked it up. It won't be too easy to find a Fiero in a junkyard today.

How did you rig the fuel gauge? Is there a transfer pump or something? Is the filler neck still in the side of the cab?

Otto, I’ve got a rocker switch wired up so I can toggle to the fuel level sender in either tank. The driver side tank is the primary tank with its in tank pump delivering fuel to a GM TBI system I’ve grafted to a 327 CI V8. When the primary tank gets low I’ve got another switch which operates an in tank transfer pump in the passenger side tank to feed fuel back to the primary tank. Filler neck is under the bench seat at the driver side. I’ve got to open the driver door to fill ‘er up: both tanks simultaneously.
It really matters what model you have. A lot of the information is for 3100 series and their frame rails are far enough apart for the Blazer tank as noted by Fibonachu but I have a 3600 and the frame rails are significantly different width in the area where you would deisre to install the tank. I used a 16 gallon tank from Tanks Inc.
Elmo ... Just a question .... Why relocate the fuel tank?

Just curious, is there a cross-over line between the tanks or do you use one tank until it's empty and then switch to the other?
Mike, I don’t have access to my diagrams just now, it’ll be a few weeks before I can get back to you. The dual fuel tanks took on a life of their own and I over-engineered it.
Elmo, I'm hoping all the chatter in your thread hasn't sidetracked your original topic question. Perhaps a reply to John M's question on why you want to relocate the tank might help get things back to helping you out? Come on back and let us know so we might better offer suggestions/solutions.

Elmo, Here is an older thread by Montana 54 Chevy that is right on topic to your question! Hope this might offer some further info and insight.

Elmo, not sure where you are located in WI but if you want to see mine in person it would be a great chance to meet and talk trucks. My bed is currently off so it is easy to see the tank mounting and envision how I am running the filler (passenger side rear fender, not in the bed).
