I can't see to locate any posts about the torque value for this 235 1960 model I'm getting checked over to go in my 48 COE. Also head bolt torque and tappet clearance. I'm sure it's been posted many times before but I can't find anything. Thanks
From a 55.2 service manual (should be the same as your 60 engine)
Rods 35-45 ft lb with oiled threads Mains 90-95 ft lb Head 90-95 ft lb Tighten in steps in a circular pattern
Intake valves 0.006 hot Exhaust valves 0.016 hot

If you use anti seize compound instead of 30 weight motor oil on the threads, reduce the torque spec by 10%. Jerry

Just an added note that the 1959 Chevy Truck Shop Manual Supplement shows two changes to Kevin's info.
Mains 100-110 ft lb
Exhaust valves .018 hot
There is a 1960 Chevy Truck Shop Manual, but I don't have a copy nor could I find anything in our online sources. The 1961 Chevy Truck Shop Manual Supplement says follow the specs in the 1960 manual.
