The original 6 volt system would require you to use 10 gauge wire to your fuse block.

Yes just to mount. Both are circuit breaker and fuse block are plastic that gets bolted to copper. So no electrical connection between the 2 of them. Then I found places to put copper on existing bolts.

So…back in early March of 2025, I started working on my horn. Starting with the mast bearing exchange because wire was missing from the bearing coming out of the steering shaft. After a month of “15” minutes, I finally removed the bearing piece by piece and lots of great advice. Ran wires from battery to horn and it actually worked. Removed horn painted it.
I installed the mast bearing and ran wires to horn. No dice😢. Then realized I put springs in steering column in the wrong places. I got handy with pulling steering wheel! Painted horn button.
Then looked for more advice about fuse blocks, circuit breakers, and wire gauge sizes. Bought new wire and ran a wire to fuse block and then to horn for now and put in circuit breaker to the starter. Still need to paint the copper brackets and finish cutting to size.
So last Thursday I had time and ran wires through cab to fuse block and then to horn. Needed the fuse! Hunted one down the next day. Put it in and the horn didn’t beep. So wiring good so far. Hopped in truck and hit horn button and beep. Quit pressing button and horn stopped beeping. Success. When putting the bearing in I accidentally rubbed the rubber coating off so I had to fix that. It would beep when it wasn’t suppose to and took a bit to find that issue. Anyway now I can legally drive my truck down the highway with a working horn. On to next project.

Fun thing about my truck is that is has many small issues but I can run errands and have always made it back home on it’s own power😎. I certainly enjoy fixing it. Thanks for the encouragement.

I was able to drive over to my daughters and mow her lawn. Took the Ole 46. I do have a 4 speed waiting to go in. Until then I have to add tranny fluid. Took the 13 mile trip after filling tranny and only had a little leakage for the 13 mile trip. Less than normal, I keep hoping the gaskets are dry and they will soak up some oil and seal up. I’m sure the next drive will make up for it!
