Glenn had been around Stovebolt for seven years before he posted his first question. (One of only four )

"I am revisiting a never completed project that has been in my garage(s) for 34 years now ... my 1950 Chevy Pickup (actually two of them)."

Glenn Anthony Andrews, age 63, of North Massapequa, NY, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer on May 28, 2024.

Glenn was a man of many passions, including gardening, collecting, and taking road trips to explore new places. He was a dedicated hobbyist and had an endless pursuit of knowledge.

Known for his witty remarks, quiet strength, and deep loyalty, Glenn's love for his family was evident in everything he did. Glenn spent his entire career working at Soil Mechanics, where he was well-respected and admired by his colleagues. His commitment and dedication to his work left a lasting impact on those he worked with.


Mark intends to finish up his Glenn's Stovebolt. He knows we'll be around to help him with that project. A wonderful way to carry on Glenn's Legacy.

Thank you, Peggy. We started on these together around 1981 and wound up with a total of 4 hoping to get two roadworthy. Then came marriages, children, etc. But the dream never died! I am looking forward to getting at least one 1950 Chevy 3100 on the road sometime in 2026. It will probably take me until the fall/winter of this year to get the garage built and get all the parts down to Maryland. Looks like a decent 5 window cab and a rebuilt 235 to start with, plus a couple of 216s, and another body on frame, misc fenders etc. to figure out. I and not a mechanic and there's lots of good stuff on Stovebolt to sort through so I can understand what I've got to work with. Looking forward to some great discussions and posting the project as I get started.

So glad to hear "But the dream never died!" and that you are working towards getting the trucks finished. From your description of the 1950 Chevy 3100, you have a good start and I'm 100% positive you will have a whole slew of fellow Bolters willing to help you out in the forums. Not to mention that since you are setting up shop in Maryland, please reach out to folks in the ODSS (Old Dominion Stovebolt Society) as there is a great bunch of Bolters all around there always willing to offer a hand and some skills/knowledge!

I think your brother would be proud of you continuing the journey. We will strive to help you reach your goal. See you in the forums.

Mark, I’m very sorry to hear about Glenn. It’s great to hear that you’re going to pursue the dream. It will not be easy, but with the help from us at the Stovebolt anything is possible.

Thanks, John. It will be tough because I haven't wrenched since we worked on the beginnings of this project back in '87. But it WILL be easy at the same time because I don't have to get it on the road to go to work! LOL. And my wife is the one who suggested that we build a garage out back to accommodate a lift etc., so I feel like I lost a brother and won the lottery at the same time. His widow and two daughters are looking forward to (finally) seeing a truck at a show and I won't let them down. At least in 2026. And I know he will be helping along the way!
