You need a thorough background check to obtain a security clearance, it's every 5 years for a Top Secret.
Our Military being an all Volunteer force and recruiting number so low have caused many Branches to lower their selection standards. There have always been problem children but it was dealt with internally..

Does the "statute of limitations" apply to participants in a blanket party or three in the late 1960s? MY AFSC required a "secret" clearance- - - - -which was still a pretty deep dive into some very private areas.
