I’m wiring up with a new harness and I’m having trouble getting the horn to honk. It’s a 12V system and the horn works when hooked up straight to a battery but not to the wiring harness
The lead on the harness to the horn is continuous positive. From the relay(3 prong) one wire supplies power. Second prong from relay has no power Black wire from last prong is constant power and says to connect to horn on column.
Is this correct? I thought the column was negative. Also horn has a continuous positive?
The horn button grounds against the wheel/column when pushed, completing the circuit.
Make sure the parts under the button aren't painted or rusty and make good contact. The hole in the wheel is where a little spring loaded button sits that keeps the horn button from grounding until it's pressed.

Your relay should have a +12V input from the battery, an output to the horn, and a "switch" that goes to the horn button.
When you ground the "switch", it should connect the +12V input and the horn output.
The relay shouldn’t have a constant +12V to the column(horn switch) right? On a three prong relay it’s a supply 12v, a negative (switch to horn button ), and the lead to the horn right?
The "negative (switch to horn)" should show battery voltage UNTIL the horn button is mashed. Then it should show zero volts and the horn should be making noise.

Uncertain about the pitch preference wanted. But, pitch can be adjusted or tweaked. My recollection is a bit foggy on the process. A search here in the Bolt is where I found that info?
Thanks everyone! Horn works. Loud and a bit funny sounding. Might need to look for a horn with a lower pitch.
What do you mean by "funny sounding"? They definitely don't sound like most horns from the 60s and 70s or even those of 50s Cadillacs, etc.
They sound like VW Beetle horns. That's normal if this is the horn you have.

I tightened the nut inside and it now has a great tone. Was just loose. And yes very 50s and appropriate. Just a bit more wiring. So close. Thanks everyone!
