Do you choose what style boot you want for the distributor and assemble them yourself? I've never done it. How do you fasten the terminals and boots to the wires?

You slip the boot on the wire, cut to length, and then crimp the terminal end on. Some dielectric grease helps the boots slide. It’s not my favorite job but it’s not too bad. Sets usually come with directions.
The one nice part of the DIY wires….it gives you flexibility to sexy-up your routing and looming in a way the factory didn’t.
I bought a lifetime supply just to get the free shipping. 😉
They allow you to pick up in the store to avoid shipping. I'm going to order sets for all my vehicles and go pick them up today.

And one of their stores near me has it in stock. Maybe I'll swing by and get a couple sets just to give one away to a fellow bolter.

Craig - That's an excellent idea! Great giveaway for a Stovebolt gathering, truck show, or what have you. I need to see if I can snag some too!
Edit: Found them near me too. Gonna pick some up this afternoon.

Our local Advance Auto had only one set remaining so I nabbed it for a whopping $2.58. OMG!!

Which is the proper fit for a stovebolt, straight or 90 deg? Thank you.
Either will work but I currently have straight boots on my truck.

Nathan - Many thanks for the tip! Only one of my nearby Advance Auto Parts places had any in stock. I bought 2 of the straight boot and 1 of the angled boot sets (all they had). Didn't get quite the awesome deal that Craig above got, but did only spend a whopping $15.68 for all 3 sets including tax.
Receipt says I saved $178.60 over original price!

Decided to go back and get a set of angled boots (22701)for a whopping $2.50. Tomorrow going to yet a different Advance auto who has a set of angled wires. Figured whatever I don't use, can be a gift to another bolter, especially at these prices.

I ordered several sets yesterday. Should get them in a couple days. Thanks for the tip Nathan!

Thanks for the tip on this great deal! I just went to a local advance here in Greensboro, NC and got a set for only $5.17!!!! Felt like I was stealing something. Ha! I got a friend in our church who is restoring an old Chevy he bought recently. I’m going to check another advance in town Monday and see if I can snag a set for him.
Thanks again for this tip! Keep sharing stuff like this. I love getting a deal on something I can use.

Interesting how we all have paid different prices?
I thought maybe this had something to do with Advance closing a bunch of stores nationwide, but they sure don’t seem to have many other items on clearance like that….
One of the stores by me is closing and everything behind the counter is 90% off! All lubricants and additives, cleaners, etc were 50% off. That stuff disappeared fast.
I got a set of brake pads for a '95 f-150 for $5.30. Unfortunately, they didn't have anything else for any of my vehicles. Even spark plugs were onesy twosy instead of complete sets of 8. Other people with more modern vehicles were getting McPherson strut assemblies for $10-$20.
I did get a couple jugs of GoJo for 70% off and a couple Motorcraft oil filters for $3 instead of $12.
