Well I recently bought a '55 3/4 ton Long Bed, with the original 235 in it, and a 4 sp floor shift.
Short Backstory - In 1976 I bought a '55 1/2 ton wide window with a V8. Oil was chocolate milk after getting it home, so I rebuilt the motor. Did all the body work one panel at a time. Had it for a couple of years, and traded some construction work for a paint job. Paint guy called and said to bring the truck in the next week. Picked it up on a Friday, awesome looking candy apple red. Drove 8 minutes to the store, parked in the far corner of the lot and went inside. Standing in line I heard sirens. Walked outside and there was a lot of black smoke near where I parked. I sure hope that soot doesn't get on my new paint, I thought. Then I realized it was my truck on fire. An elderly lady had a medical event, stepped on the gas and t-boned my truck @ 35mph, both vehicles caught fire. Oh well, I guess I can buy another one. Well 46 years later I did.
Been lurking around here for a while; always amazed at the immense amount of knowledge here. I'll probably have a few questions for you all.
Thanks,

You carefully park where you'll get no door dings and then the biggest door ding happens anyway. Hope the elderly lady was OK. You are correct - lots of knowledge here and everyone ready to help. Welcome!

Man, that was a long dry spell of not owning a Stovebolt. Sad story about your first one. Glad that you're back in the fold.
Welcome.

As for my second, 2nd Series '55 - I'm the third owner. I purchased from the second owner who's family owned it since new. It's pretty much all original, with about 56,000 miles. 3/4 ton, 4 sp, 235; which all appear to be original according to serial numbers. New carburator, by Riley's Rebuilds, a 19 girl in Florida. Starts right up, runs well. Truck was repainted about 15 years ago, and stored inside. It's not in concourse condition, but very good condition, everything works. Front crank seal/timing cover is a bit of a gusher; so I'll need to take care of that. I need to go through the brakes completely, they work but.... I plan to keep it it's original/present condition; except I'll get rid of the split rims and put new OEM style wheels and tires on. Thinking about an Gear Vendors over drive; has 4.57 differential gears, so limited to about 50mph right now. Lot's of work to do!

Welcome to Stovebolt. Looking forward to watching you get that wreck of a truck back to pristine status. I never thought I would like orange, but you changed me over. Great looking truck, and I’m happy your truckless days are behind you.
My truck is also the original Omaha Orange. Definitely stands out. Did you fine a paint code for the Bombay Ivory? Trim color codes are hard to come by.

I don't have the paint color code. Owner I bought it from had it repainted OEM colors, not sure how he matched it, or how close it is to factory color.
