Harbor Freight has their small electric hoists on sale right now. They are half price. They come with a cable and remote control. I picked up the 440 lb capacity one for $59. It is going to be used to suck my table saw up into the attic of my garage when I am not using it. I'll put a safety device on it to keep it up there when I am walking underneath. smile

I wouldn't use one to lift an engine but they are handy for small jobs.

Thank you for the heads up cool

Harbor Freight also carries the 880 lbs version of that lift. On sale I think it's about $80. That would be the way to go in case you want to use it to lift an engine out. I bought one but it's still in the box.

Bolters in the Seattle area may want to check out Boeing surplus for hoists, vices, pallet racking, work tables, and other stuff. With over 30,000 workers laid off, and state of art manufacturing buildings being demolished, all the stuff I see laying around here in Renton is bound to end up in someones's shop.

Splash, a freind of mine has a Cushman "truck" and wanted another. he sw onr with a full toolbox setup from the plant on ebay but it started to get too spendy. But you are correct about good stuff. Is there a web site clearing house or is this mish-mashed onto the Bay? smile

I don't know if Boeing has been putting stuff on ebay. If you use Google search for "boeing surplus" you can get a brief info site on the store in Kent, Washington. There are some "search" options, but in my opinion, there is no substitute for actually going there. If you do, allow for lots of time to browse and prowl around, and bring the truck. I'll post a link to the store in another thread when I get a chance. But there is no way that the information on the web will convey just how much stuff is really there in this time of moving production out of the country and massive layoffs...

My dad owns a surplus store in Seattle and probably buys $100k a month from Boeing before it hits the surplus store. A lot of $ in surplus if you know how to buy and sell.

I worked for him for a few months but got an ulcer trying to keep him happy. He is a bit of a hard [censored] and has very little in the way of business ethics . . . I couldn't take it and decided to go back to Ballard and then to college at the UW and do my own thing.
