Has anyone rebuilt a fuel pump for their 235 that has the fuel filter option>? I got some time this week to work on my Truck 49 3100 and the fuel pump was leaking. Already replaced it with a Non-fuel filter pump just so I could continue to work on it. I am thinking if the kits are available and rebuilding doesn't require any expensive tools I will rebuild the old one for a spare. I would like to hear all of your thoughts on this and any experience any of you have. Thanks in advance as always!

Then and Now Automotive sells a kit to do it yourself or they will do it for you.

I had them do it. It's been pumping for several years many thousands of miles. Two brand new non-filter pumps like the one you're using now, failed on me in just a few hundred miles and right out of the box.

Call them with the numbers stamped on the side of your pump to get the right kit.

First and only time 5 years ago. Works great, no leaks with quality parts in kit. Fairly simple job, just pay attention. As Otto stated, right numbers, right kit.

I rebuilt mine with a kit from Then and Now some 7,000 miles ago. Call and ask for Tom. He has forgotten more about old fuel pumps than most folks will ever know. He can guide you on how to install the kit and what to look out for.

Took me about an hour start to finish. Save some bucks and do it yourself.

Anytime you can rebuild an old part on these old trucks it will come out better than any foreign made look-alike offshore junk.
