Planning to clean and paint today. The rear leaf springs sit on these collars/saddles and they swivel and take grease.
Is there any input on whether or not I should paint under these collars/saddles or should I leave the metal bare?
There will be grease, so I don't believe they will rust.

It is always well to prevent rust from forming, even those are in excellent shape!

To me the question is… if I paint the insides will the paint wear or flake and contaminate the grease…
I would diligently clean it all and just use grease, no paint on the interior…

Thanks guys! I'm thinking I'll paint the axle housing, but leave the inside of the saddles bare. But with enough grease to cover all the bare areas.
Struggling to get all the old grease off the axle housing. I used Gunk Engine Degreaser and washed with Dawn dish soap. A friend told me to try oven cleaner next. Want to get as much grease off before painting.

Update: The oven cleaner seems to be doing the trick. I did a test patch and that last bit of grease is coming off.
