Anybody have any experience with this on their engine? I'm considering buying Detroit Diesel Alpine Green for my 292 but I am not familiar with this brand. It is about $50 for a quart.

For anyone interested, this is the Motor Coater product that Kevin mentions. I have no knowledge of the product, but wouldn't straight out discount it's use with out some reasons and personal experience with the product. Being that it can be brushed on or sprayed, it may prove a better alternative to a rattle can for some folks. Before you decide, look at the customer reviews for both products as it may shed some light on how good the product is or isn't.

I used the same technique to sweating salt out of cast iron pump housing and heat exchangers to make epoxy repairs. These were submerged in the brackish water of the Hudson river, some for several years and it works. I my case, I used a OA torch. You may have to do it more than once.

I got a quart of the Motor Coater Alpine Green. Tried a sample and it looks fine. I'm turning it over to the guy who is painting the engine. He will spray it. I'll let you know how it works out with some pics.
But I must say, so far, the company seems to be quality, as far as looking at the intangibles such as their web site and ordering process, speed of delivery, packaging of the quart can (well-packaged in a box with thick bubble wrap), etc. So if that is any indication of the product it will be fine. But of course you don't really know for sure until later on down the road (no pun intended).
Attached pic shows the engine freshly painted with the Motor Coater paint. Appears to be a quality paint. The guy who sprayed it said it covered well. The pic makes it look kind of blueish but in person it looks like the traditional alpine green as far as I can tell.
