You HiPo guys may have already seen it, but if not you need to take a look.

Lots of thought and dollars involved involved in that project. I'd like to know what that build cost. I would guess 100k plus.

I know they were expensive back in the day but manufacturing technology has come a long way since then. We could bolt on a lot of horsepower. Of course somebody (not me) would have to come up with manifolds. Of course a swap to a 230/250 isn't that difficult... 1951 3800 1-ton"Earning its keep from the get-go"In the DITY Gallery1962 261 (w/cam, Fenton headers, 2 carbs, MSD ign.), SM420 & Brown-Lipe 6231A 3spd aux. trans, stock axles & brakes. I finally had a chance to watch that video. I noticed that head has angle plugs compared to mine which has straight plugs. Makes me curious what the chamber looks like. I also didn't see how they plumbed the oil for the rocker shaft. On my version, the external line comes up from the main galley, elbows in to the head, then elbows over to the shaft.
I also noticed all that pretty, and they could've o-ringed the valve cover instead of a cork gasket squeezing out the sides. The throttle bodies were o-ringed.
I don't/won't have an intake plenum. So, hopefully, I can get away with just the TPS, the temp sensors and the O2 sensors reading the output. Unless somebody can suggest a way to read the air pressure or flow.
Neat stuff, though. | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 5,139 Authorized Pest | Authorized Pest Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 5,139 | In fixing something, I came across Bill's old "YT rat hole" post. (Old? Well, a year and one month old.) The video Bill was talking about was titled, "Incredible Twin Turbo Chevrolet Straight Six is a One-of-a-Kind Creation!" .. maybe that'll get more reaction to those who may not have wanted to click "that like button" or in this case, just click. That's a pretty Stovebolt Six in any case. Shiney! Definitely a HiPo thread.

My engine will have a longer stroke, and displace around 300 cubic inches. I still believe I can make a twin cam 24 valve cylinder head from an Atlas six work with a stovebolt block. For a somewhat less radical approach, the forged steel camshaft for a 216 can be reground to work with roller lifters for a MOPAR big block V8. It's also possible to put roller bearings into stock stovebolt rocker arms if one chooses to stay with the original cylinder head design. Jerry

When Keith and his brother were starting out in Concord in an old service station, they did a 440 Mopar for me from what was brand new 67 GTX. My GTX was "bad to the bone". Great memories from Keith and Randy...RIP Randy. | | |
