This distributor and coil were purchased by an older guy who said he bought it along with a new "RV" cam for a 235 engine from the owner of the "Stovebolt" forum??? He doesn't remember any other details? Does anyone know anything about these items? Thank you

I have no idea what this is about. I never sold anyone anything that even remotely looked like *that.* He must have me confused with someone else.

LOL, I'm lost myself. Does the distributor and coil look at all familiar? Is there a fella member that builds and markets distributors and coils that look like these on here? I'm lost myself. Thanks again for the help
That is a version of the "Small Cap HEI" system that was once sold by a business that no longer exists. The one that actually works is made from a modified version of the distributor that was originally on an early 1980s Chevy S-10 pickup with a 2.8 liter V6. The item in your photo looks like one of the offshore made "clones" that are being sold on Ebay- - - -ones that don't work well, if at all.
Assuming (and that's a BIG assumption) that the housing depth and oil pump drive have been manufactured to the right dimensions, you can retro-fit it using USA made parts such as the pickup coil, trigger module, and ignition coil to get rid of the overseas junk it's probably running now, and wire it up using a wiring diagram for an early 1980s S-10 that uses a vacuum advance instead of the later models that used computer controlled electronic timing advance.
OR- - - -you could just go back to the point type ignition that powered the vehicles that won WW II, and got untold millions of civilian vehicles to their destinations and home again for at least four decades. Jerry

He may have it confused. He may have purchased it from Tom Langdon who is the owner of “Stovebolt Engine Company.” Tom also sold at one time a cam he referred to as an RV cam. There were two versions of his HEI, early and late. Early units had a modified shaft, later units had a custom shaft. Tom sold a couple of thousand of his 235/261 HEI. They were all based on the 2.8 v6 motor which did not sell well when the vehicle it came in was new so there was a limited supply of cores and when Tom could not get sufficient number of cores, that was the end of the run. Tom is a really good resource, former GM engineer, record holding NHRA racer and all around good guy, but he is now 82.
