I have a 1962 long bed that I am working on. I like the look of a long bed, but my wife absolutely hates them. She wins as usual.... I have been looking online for conversion kits, but only see them starting at 63. Does anyone know of a kit I can use or a guide for me to just DIY it? My bedsides are junk, I plan to buy some AMD sides if I cannot find anything good locally.

I have no experience with the conversion but the frame cut is somewhere under the cab IIRC. Try searching YouTube and you might find what you need. Not sure but a pre-63 frame might be wider than 63-66.

Are you looking at shortening the frame as well as the box? I couldn't find any related threads or topics in Stovebolt, but did find this thread about How to shorten a 60-62 C10 frame from longbed to shortbed in the 67-72 Chevy Trucks forum that may be of some help.

60 - 62 X design frame has very little in common with 63 - 66 ladder design.

Tough call, find another rig or another wife! Lucky for me I got a SWB and a wife that likes it so I don't have to choose!

I think I’d be looking for a rust bucket or some other donor truck to get the frame you want/need.
