Hello, I have a 228 GMC motor that is stuck. How do I get the clutch and bell housing out. Engine is out of truck in shop.

Use a small carbide tipped hole saw to bore holes in the bell housing so you can reach the pressure plate bolts that are hidden by the bellhousing with a universal joint socket. 3/4" or slightly larger should work. Then you can plug the holes later if you wish. Even if they're not plugged, the holes don't keep the bellhousing from functioning properly- - - -they just add a little ventilation to keep the clutch cool.

If the engine is out of vehicle
I’m not 100% sure, maybe something won’t allow these steps in this case
But
Could you disassemble as follows?
Remove oil pan and timing cover
Remove all rod and main bearing caps
Remove crank with flywheel assembly as one
Now the bell housing can be removed from block and piston and rods individually removed as needed

Let us know
Thanks

Thanks everyone for the tips. Engine is not on my stand so I might just try the tip of drilling it. Much appreciated.

I took a siezed 270 crank out reaching through retainer hole in bellhousing with .5” socket set U-joints.
