In CO we are a mile closer to the sun than most others, degradation by UV light from the sun is a real problem. I just tried an application of ‘Poppy’s Patina’ on my ‘55.2 ‘55 GMC, did cab roof, hood, fenders, doors and rear of cab yet to do. Recommend wet sanding with 800 grit, thoroughly before. Easy to do. Hand Application with supplied applicator( could use a few more) went well. Surprising results. Picture shows fender application with door undone.

Kind of defeats the purpose/appeal of a so-called "patina".

I like the way the product brought out the dark elements, but it’s a bit on the glossy side. I can understand your desire to arrest the solar wear ; that finish is at a nice stage for preservation.

What’s in Poppy’s?

Yes and no, the 800 sanding is a loss of paint but I like it in that it is still the original finish and does not have that neglected (dull faded oxidized) look and still shouts original, to me it’s what a good coat of wax might do, and not a clearcoat. Love to judge it in person….does it offer good UV protection from further degradation?

It says it has good UV protection. It also comes in flat.

I like the look of the finish. I’ve got a 52 Styleline Deluxe to go with my 53 3100. Been looking for something to put a shine on the existing patina.
