I have the 53 progressing but, as you can see below, with so much of the cab in a sorry state I would like to get some photos of a cab to get some reference material and to get a feel for things.

Been referencing the FAM for specific measurements but ideally would like to see one 'in the flesh', so to speak.

Ideally if someone has a cab in a somewhat dismantled condition (no front clip etc) even better!

I am near to Charles Town/Martinsburg in the eastern panhandle of WV.

Paul, this is a very good "ask." I bet someone in the ODSS will be able to help with this. thumbs_up

You can browse my photos (link in signature) for putting all that together. The FAM is your best reference for measurements.

Don't know if this helps but, I'm about 2.5-3 hrs away from Winchester or Hagerstown and about the same distance from Martinsburg, if you want to eyeball one in person. And mine is a '55.1. The clip won't be going back on for a few months so you wouldn't have to rush down here to look at it. And I'm pretty much available any day or time. By the way, it's the orange one on the trailer in the picture from the Wrenchfest this last weekend.

Hmmmm .... Stewart's would be an excellent one -- the driver door is off, too.

Thanks all, much appreciated.

I have spent a lot of time perusing Kevin's threads/pictures and they are indeed helpful, as is the FAM. I still think there are areas where the FAM doesn't include measurements. I even found a thread of kevin's where he made reference to the fact there are FAM omissions in the placement of the floor but I cannot relocate it now.

I will see how this week goes in trying to find anchor points/measurements for the various panels. The fact that the replacement panels themselves are a little 'off' doesn't really help!

Stewart, I really appreciate the offer. Quite the drive but it might be the thing to do if no one closer pops up. Again, thanks a million for the offer, you're a gent.

Paul, If you have specific questions on dimensions, post them here and I'll try to help out.
Yeah, the repop panels aren't exact, for sure, and the FAM dimensions are based on factory parts.

Totally agree, I have watched several of his videos, although more for method and technique which I like. Love the cut and butt method he uses, I think he got it from Fitzee.

Thanks Kevin, I spent the last hour trying to position the side sill/parking brake support and driver's side toe panel. For the sill to hit the 8.47" from the FOD means the rearmost part of the sill BARELY hits the inner rear corner panel, not sure if that is correct? Also, the small holes in the top of the sill every 6-8 inches do not line up with the floor. Off by 1-2 inches on each, indicating the sill needs to move rearward, meaning I miss that magical 8.47". Seems I need to focus on that measurement and everything else needs to accommodate it.

I will get some measurements and photos in the next 48 hours.

Thanks for the offer

Paul

As many have already mentioned in this forum, fit the door to what you already have, then install the panels to fit the door. This will involve some creative thinking and removing and reinstalling the door several times, but when you’re done, the door will fit the opening.

Many thanks Phil, yes I do understand the door fitment is absolutely critical.

This is more about sill placement fore and aft. The A pillar was braced in position at the start several years ago and I will be refitting the door before any welding takes place.

Paul, Is the front of rocker panel to front of firewall dimension what you're looking for? You were on the thread where I posted that dimension HERE.

Yup, took some fenagling but I managed to get it to just under 8.5" today. The rearmost part of the sill almost doesn't reach the inner rear corner. Planning on reverting the cab to horizontal tomorrow (it is on its back now) and moving it back onto the frame to see how things look and check door gaps. Sill, toe panel and parking brake support all held in place with bolts/screws right now.

I will take some photos in the morning.

Thanks for all the input

Make it an adventure. Plenty to see around these parts. Could see how many Bolters we can round up should you venture this way. Plenty of water and truck stuff, that's for sure. grin

My truck is in the state of repair/disrepair that you are talking about. You are welcome to come down to Spotsylvania (west of Fredericksburg) if you want to see stuff in person. Front clip is off, passenger door is off. Inner cowls, outer cowls, inner-to-outer cowls, under floor braces and floor pans all replaced. Currently working on rear cab corners. Some pics in my project journal. (Also in my signature line.)

Many thanks for the offer! I may take you up on that. The journey is a little more palatable than to Stewart in MD.

I will drop you a message to see if we can schedule something this weekend if it works for you.
