I am looking for a set of pistons for a wheel cylinder size 1 1/2" the Pistons that has a groove where the seal fits on. There will be inverted cone on the other end where the pin fits in which in turn connects to the brake shoes.
Some one installed a different wheel cylinder kit that has a pistons which is different from the others. The odd ball cylinder has a long spring in between the two pistons and the seals are not attached to the piston like my other three.
This odd ball has a long spring which has a cup on each end and this pushes out on the two pistons.
This sucker leaks!

I have the kit but no pistons to put it together if you have extras send me an email.

Is there an up grade for a Master Cylinder for this 57 2 ton chevy truck? any idea what i need?

Thanks!

Sounds like you have a wheel cylinder from a 53 mixed in with your 57 ones I would suggest checking the truck parts for sale section or post in the wanted section if it just needs a kit to freshen it up I have the raybestos part # for the kit for that older wheel cyl I wiil have to look it up and post back tommorow.

I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things.
But thats just MY opinion!

I have the same kind of rear cylinders on my truck that you're describing and I know that Car Quest sells the re-build kits for them, but I'm not sure whether they sell the entire wheel cylinder itself. It might be worth a shot, though. If you're looking for the 1-1/2" diameter original-style slave cylinders, Napa carries them. The only downside is they're about 90 dollars apiece, but it's an alternative if you can't find the ones you described.

When at first you don't succeed, get a larger hammer.

Try Alretta Truck Parts, in Framingham, Mass. ph. (508) 788-9409, ask for Geoff, Spanky turned me on to these guys. I got new rear wheel cylinders for my '49 COE for around $60 each.
