My 3100 does not have dust caps on the front wheel bearings. The sources I check out all have ones too small. Some measure them 'i.d' or even 'o.d'. 2" o.d. is not quite big enough.
Does anyone know the actual O.D, or know of a source? They don't need to be new. Thanks!

Classic Parts of America lists them as 1934-1972 Chevy Truck Spindle Dust Cap part #73-505 $13/pair

https://classicparts.com/1934-72-spindle-dust-caps-pair

If that year range is correct, it shouldn't be too hard to find them at any parts store.

I run a Mr. Gasket 2486 2.180 inch . It fits snug and works well.
Had them both in my stock front end hubs as well as the aftermarket aluminum ones I now run.
Same cap fit both.
Do a search on google they are all over. It is a different style than the stock dust cap.

found a 4 back on ebay same prices and most folks 2 pack.

I also used this on some older dust caps that were slightly to small or had gotten bent

medium pipe expander normally used on exhaust.

it solved a few times the caps "disappeared" while driving. on some other rides I had.
Think it was a harbor freight or some online purchase.

Cut the bottom 2 inches off a standard size soft drink or beer can. It will be a snug slip fit over the snout of the hub. At least until you find the right size caps it will keep dust out of the bearings temporarily.

I had a hard time finding something that fit just right. Ended up “peening/staking” with a punch on the ID to snug up some caps that were slightly loose.

also break out your calipers and find out what your actual size is. if the hubs have ever had a bearing go south or other items then you size may need to be adjusted for your search.
Measure the hub itself. then you can be diligent in your search for dust caps. Trailer sites also have plenty of sizes as well to meet you needs.
