I am working on replacing the 12 bolt differential in my truck. I installed the current one around 1979. I am not fully confident that I got the spacing between the two brackets to match the distance between the center bolts in each leaf spring. I will make brackets for the new one, but I want to confirm that the distance apart that I set them matches that distance on an original torque tube differential.

Does anyone have a torque tube differential that is accessible to measure the distance between the hole in each mounting bracket? If yes, then what is that distance? My truck is a 1950 half ton.

Thanks!

Robert hate to confuse you but in my attempt to get a measurement I found that the rear end I have from a 49 that had huck brakes is 6 inches from the end as shown and I measured although a little difficult to measure with a backing plate and not enough hands for a picture and I got 5 and a half inches measuring from the same spot.the 2nd axle was newer with bendix brakes.

Thank you, Mr. Kevinski! My original torque tube axle had the same pivot mounting that your photo shows. Both of your photos show the centering hole in that pivot mount plate. The measurement that I want to find is the distance from that center hole to the same hole on the other mount plate. I want to install my two new brackets with the hole in each one being that same distance from each other.

Again, thank you for your help!

Yes! Thank you! That is the measurement that I was looking for. I will space my new brackets to match that.

I get an almost identical measurement (42 1/4") from a 51 GMC rolling frame with Bendix brakes that I'm parting out- - - - -center to center of the spring bolts. There's a very slight curvature of the tape measure over the banjo housing.

Thank you for your confirming measurement. I plan to set mine at 42-3/8 inch.
