Are the cabs on these big trucks the same as a pickup?? Also it has a 261 engine that has a bad rod bearing. Are the heads on the 261's the same as the 235's, or is the 261 a completely different engine?? | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | yes on the cabs all being the same - can't say about the heads

Cab is the same, except in the floor area, around the transmission. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy dlhenk, A 261 is a bored out 235 basically, it was an old hot rod trick to put the head off of a 235 on a 261, it gave you a higer compression ratio, and hence more power. A 261 is the largest displacement engine that will "bolt in" where any 216, or 235 was, making them a much sought after engine for upgrade purposes, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 36 Member | | Member Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 36 | I believe in the archives somewhere this question was asked before and the 261 block has a couple of (steam holes?) that the 235 doesn't have and you can drill those extra couple of holes by using the 261 head gasket as a template to drill the holes in the head. Try the search at top of page. Hope this helps. | | |
