Hello all; New to the forum here and wanted to start with a couple questions. In the attached pictures the rear of the frame looks to have an extension on it, is this the way they were built, the pipe with hitch is definitely not factory, the extension looks factory due to the riveting and such. Also are the front fenders on the 1 tons the same as the 1/2 & 3/4 ton's? I would like to track down some replacement front fenders as I want to do it up in original look. You can see more pictures and some background on the truck in the new member area under my name. I've done some research on it but some of the differences between 1/2, 3/4 & 1 ton's can be confusing for some who are not familiar with these vintage of trucks, just want to be sure before I start gathering parts and find out they are not the proper ones, mainly the body parts. Thanks.

I think from the rivets that the frame extension is either factory or at least old, although if factory I would have expected more than just a couple of rivets on each side.
Not sure on the fender size. I know that if it was a 47-55.1 truck the 1 ton front fenders would be the same as the 1/2 & 3/4 ton trucks. I'm sure someone else will be along to answer that question.

1939-54 GMC Master Parts Book shows 1946 Model 250 (1 ton) uses different fenders than smaller trucks. The 250 fenders interchange with those from 280 (using 7.00x20 front tires) and 300 (prior to chassis # CC-28823) models.

My truck has 7.50x17 tires on it. Is a 280 a 1 1/2 ton & 300 a 2 ton? Thanks.

GMC didn't use "tons" in technical documents, only in sales documents like the one below. Given that 250 models are considered 1 ton and the document shows the 300 model as 1.5 tons I guess your 280 model would be considered 1.25 tons.

Only thing I've found was a list of models and the 9434 model is tagged as a 1 ton pickup.
