Does anyone here have an interest in a Eastern Stovebolt gathering this summer? Like somewhere east of Indiana, west of the Alantic Ocean and north of the Mason Dixon line.What do ya say?

ATHS Nationals in Syracuse, NY this May 22-24 could be an option. ATHS (American Truck Historic Society).

I love the idea, come on up to the beautiful coast of Maine. Every year they have a Model T convention, nice leasurely ride up the coast. Also there is always the Owls Head Transportation Museum shows every weekend in the summer, free admission if you bring your classic.

Well, we need some place to "have" it, The ATHS in Syracuse is good, but maybe a little early in the season.Some guys might drive aways and need a place to stay overnight.

As you know Syracuse, NY or the CUSE as some refer to our loveley city is at the crossroads of NY. The Fairgrounds where it will be held is a direct exit from Rt 90 East and West and very near to the North South of Rt 81. Plenty of Hotels. Lots of parks on the water and good eats. The Syracuse Nationals for the Hot Rods are later in the Summer at the
same location.

All thumbs up on this one, although I'm coming from SOUTH of the Mason-Dixon line. I can just see Joy teaching 'How To Wrap An AD Steering Wheel With Leather'. I prefer a rural to urban setting, NYS is too pretty a place not to see the country in the summer.

there is the Geneseo NY event every year where there are three days of WWII aircraft flying about and antique vehicles are encouraged to attend. They have good facilities including camping. They would be delighted to see a Stovebolt contingent. The contact and event information can be found by doing a search for "1941 HAG" which stands for the Historic Aircraft Group. I started attending in 1987.

Ok, I have room here for trucks ,tents and you can sleep inside if you're housebroken and I don't discuss politics in person .I can offer my place as a staging area or whatever.Or we could all meet at Wendall. I live near Lake Ontario, 15 miles east of Rochester.

Tony, are you familiar with CY Farms? My grandpa (Carl Yunker) started the business and my uncle (Craig Yunker) runs it along with his partner. I spent a summer in that area working on the farm. Hard work, it was.

CY Farms,hmmm, would that be the turf farms by Batavia NY?( I cheated, searched the web) about 35 miles west of me.

They grow a variety of crops, whatever pays the most. Headquartered in Elba, farm more than 10k acres.

The ATHS meet would make a lot of sense and Syracuse is a good location for many of us for sure. That's totally doable for me. Anyone else game? I'm ready for a new venue with Carlisle All Truck Nationals played out for stock trucks but still the best game for parts.

I like this idea. Suppose the Millimans will trek north now that they don't have to attend to 90 screaming babies and a dozen hawses? Timing is good because it's "pre-season" and we would still get to see a lot of us again at the end of the season in Wendell.

Tony my boy...you're on to something here! Be aware that the last day of May is on a Sunday so Memorial Day Weekend is early and falls on that weekend.

This will be a holiday weekend. The 22-24th of May is a Thurs through Saturday so that sounds like it might be off a little since the Monday is a holiday.

Have or would any of you fellow stovebolters consider the Northeast Chevy Truck Club Show the first weekend in August. Iam in my second year as a member of the club, and they are a great bunch of guys. The location is Wendall State Forest, so there is plenty of camping available. The location in Northern Mass, close to border of new Hampshire. This is a family type atmosphere, although we almost ruined the Saturday night dance when we cranked up a restored Cab-over Welding truck with a mondo generator to make frozen drinks. We had way more people at the truck than they did at the dance. Anyway the boys from the club are great, and as a new member a very niave stovebolt owner they have given me alot of help.

Willy, last year was the first time in 5 years that we didn't drive our truck and trailer there.Yes, it's a good time, and we look foward to seeing you there.

Update: First, I will definitely be at Wendell again this year. That's one that would take severe distractions for me to miss.

Also, at this point (though it looks like it will cost me my marriage or at least living in the doghouse for the summer) I am planning to make the run out to Syracuse in the old '51 for the ATHS show...thumping along on the bias ply tubes and tires and split rims for a nice little jaunt. I will take the back roads and allow two days travel each way which should be doable I hope.

Have made hotel reservations and am gathering up a posse so this is a go for me and at least two other stovebolters that I know of. Hope we get a good group of us together. Maybe we can make plans ahead of time for the Stovebolt rendezvous time and place at the show? It would be nice to get photos of everyone there and their trucks. Let's keep this alive!

I'm a go also to the Syracuse ATHS 20-24 May. Thanks TONY for putting up the ATHS link for hotels, registration etc. For those who are coming please bring a small fire extinguisher. There is going to be a great barbecue cookout on the 23d of May at the Main Hotel, Holiday Inn 7th North Street with entertainment starts around 6pm. Make sure to check the link and pre pay. Last Day is the 24th Sat. I will be driving a dark red 52 Chevy pu with Corvette wheels. Looking forward to the show. Also for those close enough the prior weekend 16-17-18 same location at Syracuse is the opening swap meet where everybody brings out their old parts they have been gathering all winter. I will be there with some of the other ATHS people. PS: One of the guys will be bringing parts from a old Wizzard store he bought out in the late 60's. I've seen the collection, starters, carbs, fuel pumps, therm's, gas pedals,old mud flaps with the reflectors, all in boxes. Stunning collection of stuff.

We had our monthly ATHS meeting last night: Trucks participating at the Syracuse ATHS in May will be thru gate #6, not the one published. Please pre register as it will be a lot smoother getting in. Bring a small fire ext, and proof of insurance. The 2003 ATHS National Convention & Truck Show Registration form sais you can pick up your registration packets at the host hotel Holiday, not true. Only at the fairgrounds now per our Club Pres.
Its still a mystery to me if some of our trucks will be forced into what they call "special interest" Check out www.aths2003show.org

We had another show committee meeting tonight for the Syr Nationals. Think I have the parking problem solved for those who have indicated will be driving in and out everyday. (alltruckedup/tclederman/oldkarkook/534me/
k10 and others) You will come in the normal gate 6 everyday. You will then proceede inside following the signs to gate 10 (which is inside the fairgrounds) tell the guy at gate 10 "you are dirving in and out everyday" He will then have you park just inside gate 10. We can all meet there. If you do not tell them you are driving in and out everyday they will think you are parking your truck for the week and expect you to ride the shuttles to the hotels and back.

the airshow/displays are happening July 11,12 and 13. The website is http://www.1941hag.org/. I usually try to get there on the Friday because it is very informal as a flyin day and I get to talk to some interesting people. Saturday and Sunday have the planned airshows. It would be great to meet some of you folks from the Stovebolt, at Geneseo.

Truckernix, we used to go there all the time,we sat in the B17 "Fuddyduddy" before it was restored. Then it got so popular, too crowded.Now that it's smaller again, we will be going.Do you drive near Rochester NY on your way? we can meet up before or during the show.

that would be great. We usually stay in Rochester because Geneseo is booked up so early in the year. I remember when Fud was unrestored. They used to fly her to different shows and she really was a work in progress! I don't know if you know but almost all the airshows in Canada were discontinued. After 9/11, the government issued some crazy insurance requirements, the insurance companies jacked the rates and presto, no more airshows.
