I obtained the name & contact for the Spectra Premium sales rep today. He reviewed the situation and said he’ll send a new tank- if there is one in stock. He seemed to have no interest in the nature of the defect , but is willing to replace the product- again, if he has one available.
That's great. If you see any differences / improvements, take some pictures. I saw differences on the inside around the outlet - more weld matererial instead of none.

Waveski, That's an outstanding conclusion to your fuel tank issue and kudo's to you for persevering and Spectra for stepping up! Hoping your installation of the new tank is much less of a chore than this turned out to be. Keep us posted on your progress!

Dan - I may be tempting fate by saying this , but installation should be tinker toys. The only minor issue will be removing the sending unit from the (not very) old tank ; it is bedded in Permatex and will probably put up a bit of a fight. The gasket will be shot , but it should be easy to make one. Then I’ll have to decide what to do with the old-ish tank ; aside from that one fault it is shiny and very nice. Washed out, even. Way too good to scrap.
Your new tank will most likely come with a new sending unit gasket. Mine did.
I was thinking about getting the flange re-attached on mine and then offering the tank for sale at a discounted price.
Installation and removal is very simple after you remove the seat.

Waveski, If you want to continue a discussion about the follow on activity to reinstall your in-cab fuel tank and related interior work, please start a new post in the Interiors forum as that's the best place to continue that conversation please and thanks.
This "Gas Tank Venting" topic has come to a conclusion with the forth coming arrival of your warranty provided new tank and identification of the deteriorated fuel filler/vent hoses.

I started this thread wayyy back on December 3, looking for help with a fuel vapor in cab issue. Today, over 3 1/2 months later, I completed installation of a new gas tank , filler neck , fuel delivery line with valve and flexible section, the works. Tomorrow I’ll drop in the sending unit, easy job, cherry on the sundae.
I am fortunate to have such a good storage/work arrangement this winter, and I am grateful for all the help and support this group has given this old new guy.
