Actually, we picked up a second passenger in Albuquerque -- a friend that flew out to join us for 7 to 10 days but enjoyed my company so much she stayed till the end. Both say they had a great time.
The hardest part for me was jumping into my van and driving something with power rack and pinion steering and power brakes, but I'll adapt.
Enjoyed reading about your trip John. Glad you didn’t encounter anything you couldn’t handle; but I don’t know what that would be, given your skill level.
Has me sitting here wondering how Doughboy would do under those circumstances. Rather, how I would do!

Finally figured it out. Here are some pictures from my route 66 trip.
