I have two set of exhaust manifolds that are in pretty good shape with the exception of the heat riser baffles. Looking for advice on how to repair or replace the baffles.
Or maybe a restoration shop.

Thanks Red

I fabricate new shafts and flap valves from stainless steel. The only "original" part that remains is the weight. There is a bimetal spring sold by a vendor on Ebay for a Jeep application that is a suitable substitute for the stovebolt item, at less than half the price of the scarce and expensive OEM Chevy part.

Do you fabricate these for fellow bolters? or have a how to instruction.

Thanks Red

No, I just use common sense and the fabrication skills I've acquired over the past 65 years of tinkering with these old rust buckets. The type of vehicle doesn't matter- - - -somebody built it, and somebody else can fix it. If you want a Cadillac job, drill and tap the manifold for a couple of short brass pipe nipples, then line-ream them so a piece of stainless round stock is a loose slip fit. Then tack weld a flap valve formed to duplicate the shape of the original part to a flat spot ground into the center of the shaft. The rehabbed valve will outlive your grandchildren.
