Let me know and I’ll be there᠁ if I’m in the state. I don’t have a running Bolt, but I now have both of R. Lee Ermey’s old pickups and I’ll bring one of them.
That is way cool! The art work on the hood is impressive.
It sounds like this idea of getting together will happen. I was there 10 years ago. It was lots of fun. (Still use the DB beer glasses!) We kinda missed Autumn but that won't stop us. It'd be a great opportunity to get together again.

10 years ago I took the 57. Only Stovebolt I have now is Doughboy. I may need to show up in a non-Stovebolt.

Well, Victor. I believe you're not alone there any more. See if you can convince Tuts to bring Thor up / over. That would be a sweet Reunion of sorts.
Maybe it'll help if we ask John to make up a Stovebolt / ODSS / DB t-shirt (sweatshirt more likely) for the event. I know other ODSS members have been asking for some Stovebolt attire anyway. This could be the start of a whole new line.
Just realized, we had to do the DB early because of the conflict with tree sales in the past. This area (or similar) could fill that gab between Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is great. Maybe be the warm-up (so to speak) for something that's cooking at HQ for the spring.

Great pictures! That was an epic event! I'm still blown away by all the long distance haulers that came to this central Virginia location. A bit more than ten years ago a few of us were drinking a beer at a smaller get-together with Sweet, Phillip, Alec, (yes, beer happens) when, IDK if it was the beer talking or Sweet's vision, but he wondered aloud if people would come to the DB location for a get-together. IDK, but I think it was John's idea for a calendar as we had the 12 truck minimum. I'd love a reprint of the old calendar and am eagerly awaiting if DBII actually happens.
I would be happy to do a side trip down there to speak in person with DB management about us being there. Not sure if they would be underwhelmed or overwhelmed depending on what they had going on that weekend. My neighbor who worked DB Promotion has moved so I don't have him as a source, and the manager that came out with all the Tchotchkes, (didn't we get beer glasses, stickers, beer openers, etc.?) doesn't work there. That said, our requirements are few, all we really want is to park together and that can easily arranged by arriving a little earlier than the 1100 hours opening.
Goodness gracious, if Hambone is threatening to get off his NH porch rocker...sets a mind to thinkin'.

Cosmo, we can make that happen ... easily! I'll get this started this weekend. The current calendar allows for 13 submissions ... extra month at the end.
I like the rest of what you said, too.

The story of how that happened was a two-step thing. A few weeks before we met there I went to Cosmo's place to help him install his overdrive transmission. Upon my arrival to the Cosmo palace I meet a very tired, very overworked Cosmo. I remember him showing me a drawing and he starts to explain his wiring and after about 15 seconds his explanation makes absolutely zero sense. I allow Cosmo to finish his thoughts and I think the look on my face made him realize his language was jibberish.
Then, an epiphany, Cosmo realizes his brain is overworking him and he makes one of the greatest decisions as ODSS President. He says what I need today is a break from this truck. I have somewhere I want to take you. We hop in the GreenMachine and find scenic Rt 151. Which just so happens to have more breweries per mile than any other road in Virginia that I am aware of. We stop at one brewery and have a sampler and lunch. Then we moved on to the next one, then the next. The last place we arrive at was DB. When I walked inside, I was amazed at how beautiful the place was. I remember telling Cosmo, how awesome it would be to have an event here.
The rest is history.......

Sweet, you are correct sir! I think we hit Blue Mountain for the flight of samplers, then the Wild Wolf, finally the DB.

True explorer’s! Where would we be, if it wasn’t for these two brave men, selflessly setting off to explore distant bar’s, so that we commoners, can share in their discovery of the beverage that we so enjoy, so that we can gather, enjoy each other’s company, and indulge in their find! Hats off to Chris and Cosmo! Jim

Going back over this thread, it appears we have a motion on the floor ...
Do we have enough interest (and commitment to attend if scheduled) to send Cosmo to speak with the DB mgt to actually coordinate a date? Are we making this a day trip or can we overnight (make up for a truncated Winchester)??

Who- Gauge the number of interested parties. What- ODSS Devil's Backbone II When- Pick a date. Where- DEVIL'S BACKBONE BASECAMP Why- Indeed, why? Consult your nearest mirror for the answer to that.

I know this is minor in the big scheme of things but I've got the images from 10 years ago in the queue to get the 2024 calendar going. I wondered if anyone wants a particular month for the image because I can add *something* in the blocks in the bottom portion of the calendar. Example: if you take December, I can add a birthday in the day requested.
Besides that, I wondered if you want to have a "reflective" moment that goes with your truck. The way John set the images up back then, there is no need to type in a title in the bottom portion of the calendar. That leaves a lot of space to "say something." John will make up a new cover. I was thinking image #1 here would be a good one for a base graphic. But .... he's better at that than me. I just really like the image.

I’m committed to be fully interested in going. But probably not be showing up in doughboy-too long of a trip for me in DB but I’m sure the truck would be fine. Could possibly be fully interested in a stay over, depending on agreed upon variables.

I was a greenhorn 10 years ago, without a driveable truck. I had read so much about the Devil's Backbone excursion and how epic it was that I was bummed that I missed out on it. So much so that I bought a six pack of Devil's backbone beer to drown my sorrows from the lost opportunity. It is fabulous beer! I'm in!

I propose we do an over nighter -- either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday. Shoot, I'm retired -- I'm game for ANY calendar pick.
My calendar is clear -- Peggy and I are ready to roll in on this one.
What say you all to an overnighter??
