I haven't been to Stauffer's auction since I lost my parking place...

Edited by Peggy M:: Wanted to pull these few posts that were buried in another thread so folks familiar with this auction will know it's coming up. It's still quite the grand old time.

Parking in the front field (our former tree field) -- even better parking now than you had before.

This event is almost like a mini-fair. Animals, food, plants, flowers, big things, small things. Lots to see and tinker with. Some say junk; we say treasures. Some of the "box lots" go for $1. In the box maybe a few things well worth more than $1.
It's a good chance to meet up with folks in one place. Local Stovebolters have a chance to connect. Some not seem for awhile. Most we'll not see until spring.
For those not familiar with the event or even the scope of it, buses even come down from PA loaded with "shoppers" and other friends. I think some horses come from "out of town" also.
Others can add to the "loot report" ... my sister and I would go in different directions than the guys. When the kids are with us, even the boys go with the men; the girls want to see the animals. Every one wants bar-b-q chicken, fries and ice cream.
A big day of it from sunlight ... into the dark of night.

John took a bunch of parts for Calvin (the '27) over to the farm garage. Neighbor (Joe) who also has a Stovebolt in our garage went along. Of course, they spent a fun time next door looking at what had come in (probably) on Saturday. Joe was amazed. Plus, he had a chance to meet the nearby neighbors. He fit right in with this gabby group.
John and Joe have already *tagged* a few treasures they need. Admittedly, John's are *needed* items. Joe, fortunately, recently built a mini-barn.
It sounds like too much fun. I may need to grab my sorry self and go visit before the event on Saturday (way too crowded for me). I *need* to see what goodies I can discover. In the least, catch up with old friends.
Hope some of the Bolters nearby have a chance to experience all this.

The salad days as it were. I staffed most of my tool and equipment kit through that event. I need some things and I know they could be found on those trailers. One of those things I miss.

True. True. But on the other side of DC and there exists a repulsion as I approach that place. Did I mention I have a 20 minute drive (in any direction) to the first stop light.

Picked up a few items (some fuel cans with the old style spouts, folding saw horses, an extension ladder and a receiver hitch mount for the Quigley's winch.
Visited with all the neighbors who I still consider family more than just neighbors. A great day in a great community.
