So right now, I am sort of short on cash, but am in dire need of new tires for my 47' 2 ton. The I was wondering if anyone has used 900x20 Military tires before. They're 40 inches tall, 8.5 inch tread width. and I'm afraid they won't fit but I can get them for around 60 bucks a tire (shipping not included). I Bet they would fit the rear but I don't know how well they'd fit under the front fenders without a lift. Or even if they'd fit the rims correctly. But you know, try to save some money, later on buy nicer tires.

ohwell I'm not sure what size they are but I know my dad has some off of an old Autocar we restored. I am going down there tonight and will check on them for you. They are either 9.00 or 10.00 x 20's. I'm sure we could be in your price range too. grin

I doubt they will fit the front.
They will fit the front of the next size larger GMC. They will rub the springs at a hard turn, you may be OK with that?, and they will possibly rub the fenders.
Should fit the rear, and make the truck faster.
You may have a little trouble actually getting them on the rims, because that size tire usually likes a slightly wider rim, but I would think they will fit with some elbow grease.

They might fit the rear... that is if your '47 is a '47-2nd..... as 9.00:20's became optional in '49 on the rears only...... without any change to the truck...andI've trial fited a pair onto one side of the rear of my '48 (Boomer) with no clearence troubles.....

The truck is a 47 2nd series/Advance Design body style so the rear tires will most likely fit. Can I easily lift the front end a few inches to fit in the 40 inch tires on the front? Just put a few more leafs in or what?
