Hey all, anyone have any tips or pictures for me on the throttle linkage length? Also what have you all done about the water pump shaft being too long? Anyone use an electric fan or have a part number on a short shaft water pump that will work?

I'm currently doing similar swap on my 31 with a 235 engine from '58 car.
Use the 216 water pump and the relocation plate
Not sure what you're doing about the transmission end - I'm using the flywheel (and starter) bellhousing, clutch and transmission from the 216 also
Do you need to drill the cam cover for the forward mount?

In order to use your 216 throttle/carb linkage on a later 235 you will need to move the linkage pin from the block and install the 216 linkage in the forward hole.
In the pic you see the pin in a later 235 and a few inches to the left you see a slotted screw. Remove the screw and install the 216 pin in that hole. Then your 216 linkage from the pedal to the swivel should work. May have to use the 235 linkage rod from the swivel to the carb. I did.

One of our own, “Pre ‘68 Dave” has a website that explains the throttle linkage pivot point well here.. Check out his website, it has a wealth of info on our Stovebolt engines.

He also invented and sells the water pump adapter plate. [LINK] Should you decide to go that route, contact him via his email address “[email protected]”, as most if not all of the other vendors that offer this adapter have bootlegged his idea.
