Waa Hoo!!! I picked up my engine from the shop today and brought it home. I'm back in business on the '49 4400 again after being stuck for 6 years.

The engine is the '58 235 that was in the truck when I bought it. Billy did a complete bottom to top rebuild -- turned the crank, bored it, everything new.

The cost? Well, it was breathtaking to say the least. eek eek eek So much for the Christmas tree profit... frown But at least I have a perfect (except for the color frown ) 235.

But I'm pretty motivated. I got it off the back of the truck and it's sitting in the frame now. Found out I lost the front motor mount bolts over the past 6 years.

But hey, I'm back in business. This is cool! Now I have to get my body man off his butt!

I will! But the last time I tried to upload stuff to the server, I crashed the whole web site..... So Paul and Peggy told me I'm not allowed to mess with the server unsupervised anymore....

Hopefully tomorrow...

Well, my. That avatar is a surprise. Now I know what he was doing in here this morning.

Yes, we don't let John on the server. I'll get them up tomorrow for him. I think it's still suppose to be cold and very quiet.

John and my brother did a bunch of work around the place today so John can have a few hours off in the morning. I'm gonna hit the rack early so I can get an early start. A day full of company. But we made home-made chicken pot-pie and it was super yummy. I'll send a picture of that (my sister in law took a picture ... she's never had a REAL pot-pie). But ... the engine first.

Night night, Bolters.

Well, I thought for sure John would have put the link in here. I must admit, the engine does look good. (You'll need to drop to the bottom of that Project page.)

As for the pot pie ... yummy! Next cooking experience will be something with fresh pig! Our neighbor slaughtered three pigs yesterday. Maybe some shepherd's pie. mmmm!

Thanks John!

I got the tranny in today (with thanks to my neighbor who came and turned the motor over to get the splines lined up while I was grunting the SM420 into place.

Had to make two trips over to my other neighbor's to raid his Grade 8 bolt bin for new motor mounts bolts and nuts -- even found those fine thread nuts so I could reuse the original bolts for the rear mounts.

Because I got the motor mounts all sorted out, I was able to move the engine hoist away from the truck and admire the reassembled engine in the frame -- it was a beautiful sight!!!

Until I noticed I forgot the front motor mount shield!!! I said a bad word and then wheeled the engine hoist back into place and redid the front mount.

That right side bolt on the front motor mount was a bear -- the one on the timing gear cover. I couldn't get the 7/16ths, 2-inch bolt to go down through that hole, so I ran it up from underneath -- I hope that's okay. I'm using lock nuts as well as lock washers.

Cool day!

Pictures available as soon as Peggy uploads my updated Gallery Page.
