Hi All,

New to this thread but excited to be here. Opportunity to purchase a 1959 Chevy Spartan 70 with dump bed. It ran for years from a local farmer, but then the brakes stopped working on them. Its air over hydraulic im told and ive attached a pic of the parts that im told are needing replaced. Does anyone have ANY idea what parts these are, as well as where to find them? This truck was a firetruck in my hometown 60 years ago so the thought of being able to use it as a farm truck and keep its memory rolling is amazing.

Thank you in advance. Also does anyone have the layout for the braking system? cant seem to find much material online.

Sounds cool. I bet someone here or in Big Bolts (where you also posted) will be able to help.

Your picture is showing the Air Over Hydraulic Brake (AOHB) Cylinder.

Parts book Group 4.880....Air-Hydraulic Brake Cylinder Assembly....1956-59 ALL (exc. TDM)....Bendix 2500690....Chevrolet p/n 2419901.

You might try Precision Rebuilders and see if they can rebuild your unit.

DTG,

Just a short note here as it is late and I won't be able to reply in detail tonight.

I recently acquired a 1966 Chevrolet Parts Truck Illustration and Special Information Catalog (P&A 25T) that has (I think) most everything in exploded diagrams concerning your C70 AOHB brake system and components.

I will endeavor to get scans/pics of the particular pages with info on the '59 AOHB system and post tomorrow.

This is awesome. Thank you so so much. Going to try and turn it over this week, will definitely update. I found this through Bendix and its almost identical in nature, do you think it could work?

DTG,

The OEM part info identifies that unit as for a 1966 C60 series truck. I don't think it is compatible. Also, you may want to note that the listing is for a rebuild and return to you of an existing unit, not an outright sale being offered.

I think your better option is to have your existing one rebuilt by one of the known providers mentioned by Mike B and Otto above.

Since your "part" has been identified, suggest further discussion on this "brake" topic continue in your Big Bolts thread.

That is where you will find the above mentioned diagrams and pictures I promised shortly. wink

See you over in "Big Bolts"! thumbs_up
