I did not know if this should go in the "Interior" or "electrical" forum. Has anyone found a source for a 6v dash fan. I am still running 6v and would like to add a dash fan but no one seems to have one available unless you want to pay hundreds for a refurbished original. Is there anyway to convert a 12v fan to 6v? What is required?
I will try the 12v on the 6v power supply to see what happens.
I sold one I had a few months ago. I think I had two at one time, although one may have been a 12v. Will look in the attic next time I can.
You can convert 12 to 6v, but it is a real process if you're talking about rewiring the armature. Best to use a 12v to 6v step-down adapter like this one: https://tinyurl.com/3w9ft2w8

I have a Trico vacuum fan (soft blades). I see them on Epay all the time. Yes, prices are high but they are still listed for like 60 bucks on average. As long as you have a vacuum line to hook it into. I spliced my wiper line under the dash with a "Y" and a diverter to use either wiper or fan. I can tell you it's No A/C but it moves Air, both in summer and winter. Todd
Sometimes the answer is right in front of you. You got me thinking Jon. 12v to 6v. why not 6v to 12v. They are readily available. Problem sovled. I can buy a commonly available 12v fan and add a 6v to 12 tranformer.
Transformers do not work on DC voltages, a transformer is an AC only device.
I was going to say that, but there are lots of electronic 6-12V converters available. I saw one on Amazon after Dave posted about that for just over $12 that would support light loads and another for twice the amount that would carry a 10A load. I think you're being a little strict on your definition of "transformer".

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like a smartelec. I just didn't want for you to buy a simple transformer, thinking that it would work for your application.
