I am planning on installing 3:55 gears in my 46 1/2 ton this summer.

Was looking for feedback from someone that has used this Raytec Yoke Holder. Kind of worried that the 1/4" bolts that hold the tool on the yoke will be strong enough to take the torque.

Thanks,

Larry

I've always used a big pipe wrench to hold a yoke while I torque the pinion nut- - - - -hasn't slipped yet, even when using a 48" pipe wrench and applying 1200 Ft/lbs. to the pinion nut on a Freightliner with an Eaton dual drive axle. That took a 1" drive with a 4 foot cheater bar.

That tool should work fine. Just make sure the bolts (all 4) are tightened. I fabbed us a similar tool out of some steel bar and it works on a Dana 60 axle pinion.
The problem with using a pipe wrench is the teeth dig into the pinion. Not necessarily a problem, but not pretty. Not everyone has a 48" pipe wrench laying around. Buying one isn't that cheap.
Coincidentally, I saw two of them at a car show yesterday used as radius arms on the front suspension of a Mack rat rod.

Wise to pad jaws when using a pipe wrench to hold a yoke.
