While I’m waiting for another trash I have time to look at the turn signals.
I’ve got a harness end and the leads out of the column.
This what I have from the harness end that are labeled.
White ~ brake sw Green ~ right rear turn Yellow ~ left rear turn Purple ~ turn signal feed Brown ~ turn sw hazard Dk blue ~ right front turn Lt blue _ left front turn Black ~ horn
Column side White Purple Pink Dk blue Yellow Lt blue Black
Any suggestions on which go where. The column side is a new cup and turn signal but came with no directions on what goes where. Thanks for any input.

The column side is a new cup and turn signal. The word turn signal describes a function, not a component, I believe you are saying a new "cup" bell and a new turn signal switch. ??
You will need to determine what each wire on the switch does. As you are asking. You already know what the harness wires do. Before answering, I need to know a few things. I think I know the answers but I want to be sure. 1. Which bundle is from the new switch? The one with connector or the one without? 2. Whichever one it is, it seems they are both new. Harness is new. Switch is new. So why is there a connector shown? Was this connector pre wired or did you do it or what? 3. Can you give the vendor and part number of the new switch? 4. Did this 54 already have a turnsignal set up on column? and need some new parts? or all new addition. 5. I believe 54 was the first year for a factory turn signals option. 6. Do you know how to do a continuity test if necessary? 7. You may want to read the tip section as a preparation. Cletis has a tip in there.

They are both new. The connector side is from the new harness kit and pre wired.
The kit is from American Autowire kit no. 510004.
It came with the turn signal hub so likely factory. I tried to recondition the old one but it proved to rusty to save so ordered a new turn signal hub assembly from Classic Parts.
I’m pretty cautious with electrical also which is why I haven’t connected yet. Been busy on mechanical and fuel issues anyway.
My plan is to cut the wires and put on bullet connectors. Then use jumpers to connect and test each one to verify the right connections. Then push them together and heat shrink each.

Update on turn signals. This is what I ended up with calling out the steering harness first.
White to white Purple to purple Pink to yellow Dk blue to Dk blue Yellow to green Lt blue to Lt blue Black to black
Now the weird side.
Right side works fine. Left side only rear works. No power to it. Hmm When the signal arm is all the way up the right side work. Ok Back to neutral and left rear works All the way down and all are off
Got me scratching my head. Any ideas
