I thought you guys would enjoy a couple pictures of my wrecker. This truck came from Detroit with the ashton wrecker body on it. Originally owned by a local dealership in Hot Springs AR, it was the largest tow truck in town for decades. It has been owned by my family for twenty years. Original babbit bearing 216, never been opened up (can't tell me these aren't tough engines). I use it on a weekly basis. It has never failed to get a job done.

I ran a 1951 6500 with a W-35 holmes for my family's Chevrolet dealership for a number of years. I would have to agree with you that they are one tough truck. When ever it went out things weren't good or it would have never been called. It was the largest wrecker in town for many years. I have found newspaper clippings of it setting up tractor and trailers as well as anything else that came along. It always got me back home. It has to be the toughest truck I have ever driven. I have the truck, but am looking for the wrecker to put back on it.
I really like your truck, and can relate to it.

Welcome to the "Bolt"

Nice truck and interesting story. It'll be extra cool when you get it restored. The ones that are passed on to next generations are special. Most kids are reluctant to hang on to the old iron, especially the big ones, as they require more space.

Thanks for sharing your pics and story with us.

John
