I have been wanting to ask a some of you about the instrument cluster. It is from a later Chevy, and appreciate your guidance on what it might be! It seems to be the only deviation from stock, other then the 261 CID and dual carb/exhaust set up.

thanks for the insight

The dash is 1940 so one wonders why change that out. There must have been some compelling factors, or maybe a wild hiar?

Ed,

Your dash cluster was definitely snagged from a '53 or '54 Chevy car (see pics below) and as you noted, mostly likely caused by a "wild hair" event - grin

It was very nicely done, and has an added modification with the tach in the right side. Presents a nice custom look.

Gotta question, what was the right hand circular gauge on the original 53-54 cluster? Was it a clock or what? On mine as Dan notes, its an after market tach, but was curious as to what it was originally.

thanks folks, so appreciate the knowledge.

Ed,

If you click on the pics of the original dash source vehicle above (you may need to hit the button to zoom in), you can see that was the home for the "clock" as you guessed.

Glad we can be of help!
