I got a real cool old pickup and it had these brackets with it. I know they are for the spare tire but can't find anything on how they go together and function under the bed. Any help?

This picture may help you figure it out. Link That long piece should have a dowel thru it and it slides on the shorter straight piece in the center of your picture.

Bob,

First off, since this was your very 1st post, Welcome to the Stovebolt! wave

I think there is a bit more info available to help you get this spare tire holder back in service on your truck. More replies will be coming along shortly I am sure.

Dan

Thanks Klhansen
I’ll see what I can glean from the link you provided

Bob,

On another note for this topic, this page in the 1929-57 MPL provides more info about the "dowel" that Kevin mentioned in his reply.

That part isn't being reproduced anywhere I could find, but the part description (see snapshot attached below) shows that part is basically a piece of steel round stock with a 3/8" diameter and length of 2-23/32". Something I think could be fabricated to fill the need for this missing part.

Hope this may be of some help?

Dan
