I purchased a short shaft water pump for the old fire truck(1959 261 six cyl) and now I can not get the fan clear of the crank at the bottom of the engine. I've got an sleeve that came with the pump but it still is real close. I'm using the four blade steel fan blade that is 18" in size. I'm looking at putting a washer inbetweeen the fan and fan blade. Anyone else have this problem? Help...

How about a photo of your Bigbolt fan set up? I can't seem to keep the fan belt in line when I use a spacer on the fan blade. How about a photo that shows the pitch of your fan blade? I know this has to be easy but it doesn't seem that way to me. Thanks.

Are 59s supposed to have short shaft water pumps? I thought they were for converting 235s for use in 216 engine compartments.

I found the answer in searching the driveline forum. And I got it all lined up this morning and installed. I sometimes forget other parts of the stovebolt web site exists. I do not know if a 261 is to use a short shaft water pump but it does make sense as the 235 and 261 are about the same size. It fits and I'm moving on to installing the thermostat. Thanks. Bill
