I have read several threads on the electrolock ignition coil. My question is; does anyone sell or have the coil wire with the large boot, that would go on the electrolock ignition coil? Mine is a 46. I purchased plugs and wires for it, but the coil wire just has the small boot, and it wants to keep falling off. Any suggestions? Thanks..Tommy

Tommy,

After trying to read up on your question, I couldn't find anything that indicated there was a specially sized "large boot" for the '46 coil to distributor wire. The Master Parts Books don't give a different part number for that wire anywhere I could see.

I did find one possible reproduction source (not mine) here: https://www.classychevusa.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=1832/mode=prod/prd1832.htm

This wire set is listed for '37-46 Chevy trucks, so evidently meant to fit your truck.

The provide picture shows a larger looking end boot for the single coil to distributor wire then those shown in other after market source ads, but looks like you have to buy the whole set to get what you want.

If this doesn't solve your problem, maybe a solution is to take the existing coil and distributor cap to your FLAPS of choice and ask them to check some available coil wires to see if you can find one that has a boot that will stay in place and match with your distributor cap.

Just a hopefully useful suggestion. headscratch

Let us know what you figure out as others may need the info sometime in the future. thumbs_up

Thanks Dan I will check out the lead. It seems odd no one else would have run into this problem. Maybe others just change the coil out for a standard one, or maybe mine has been swapped out for the odd ball. Thanks again..Tommy
