So long story short(maybe) I purchased what I thought was a clean 1953 3100 that had a 1954 front end(that should have been a hint). It was a good deal even though I didn’t have the room for it in the shop. That was last summer and sat in the trailer until last month. Had the opportunity to pick up a very clean 1964 SS Chevy II for a great price so had to make a decision and sold the truck to a friend. Fast forward to last week my friend got to working on the truck and discovered it had been wrecked at some point with horrible mud work and fiberglass by drivers side toe board and door wouldn’t shut right. He’s a friend and I have to make it right so a 900 mile round trip to buy it back is up next. My brother in law has a very clean 1950 cab with hood on a junked ray rod frame that he will sell me which would be an extra 130 miles to the trip but worth it.

I’m pretty sure the cab will be fine to swap out but wanted to keep the hood as well from the 1950 with the 1954 front fenders. Will those hoods also interchange? This is more for looks. The truck is green but the cab and hood are black with a nice patina. I would then paint the bed black for a two tone look with the least amount of work. The bed isn’t mounted to the frame so would be less to tear apart.

I’ll add some pics of the truck, 3” of mud work, cab I want to use.

Thanks in advance!

I have a '54 hood on a '49 truck. There is no reason why the reverse would not work.
The only difference I could find between the two hoods is where the holes for the front hood badge. The holes are in the same place on both hoods.
The '49 hood holes are recessed a bit, while the '54 hood holes are flush. I believe that either of the front hood badges will bolt on to either hood. I am not sure why they changed the holes from recessed to flush. I went with the '54 badge which was on the hood when I got it.
